Didn’t You Hear? | for the love of poetry

(Please read this on a PC or any large screen)

a poem by pushkar prabhat

Didn’t you hear,

the lava boil?

Didn’t you hear,

the kettle scream?

Didn’t you hear?

The fuse blow,

the curtains fall,

and the castle,

cave in.

When madness

cracked the code.

Where were you?

Didn’t you hear,

the reality knock?

Didn’t you hear

the illusion slide?

Didn’t you hear?

The absent thought,

the clawing shock,

and the soul,

give in.

When surrender

invaded the heart.

Where were you?

Didn’t you hear,

the toxins rush?

Didn’t you hear,

the numbness evolve?

Didn’t you hear?

The darkness approach,

the trembling fall,

and the existence,

collapse in.

When eternal sleep

lured the dreamer in.

Where were you?

Why are you?

Here?

Still?

These ashes

can burn, no more.
